Writer’s Notebook

Having a dedicated writing notebook gives you a good place to collect bits of potential inspiration for future projects.
My first journal dedicated to writing
possible things to include in your journal:
  1. Overheard dialogue and conversation
  2. In-depth physical descriptions
    • Try writing a purely physical, concrete, in-depth description of an object in front of you. Aim for 200-500 words.
  3. Concrete / sensory details
  4. Dreams
    • I feel like dreams can be a good source for surreal imagery (depending on how realistic or “dreamlike” your dreams are); try keeping your notebook near where you sleep so you can write down your dreams right when you wake up.
  5. Research, fun facts, deep dives
    • Look into historical events, unfamiliar spiritualities, interesting people, topics from fields of study that you don’t normally interact with.
  6. Reviews of books / films / TV shows / music albums
  7. Any other bits & pieces of potential inspiration for writing.
also, Paste in other materials that you could draw from for inspiration: stickers, photographs, sketches, dried plant matter, interesting news or magazine articles, scans of artworks.
